Cottonwood Glow

This painting was based on a photo I took late in the day, when the cottonwoods near the Rio Grande were catching the last warm light. I loved how the trunks lit up with golden tones while the brush below stayed in shadow. It felt like the trees were holding the sun a little longer than the rest of the land. I tried to stay loose with the brushwork and let the colors carry the feeling.
