Cactus Snack for a Prairie Dog

This one made me laugh while I was painting it. I caught the little guy mid-munch, totally unfazed by the spines he was standing on. That’s the desert—tough and surprising. I wanted the background to glow like New Mexico sun and let the texture of the fur and the cactus tell the story. He’s small, scrappy, and absolutely at home.
