Upward Trail

Created in scratchboard, this piece captures the raw curiosity and quiet determination of a bear mid-climb. Each stroke carves light from darkness, tracing the texture of fur, bark, and muscle in motion. I loved the challenge of working in reverse—removing material to reveal the bear’s form, pausing at just the right moment to leave the rest to the viewer’s imagination.
