Winter Orchard Gate

I painted this from an old photo I’d kept for years—something about the tilt of that gate and the rows of bare orchard trees always stayed with me. The Sandias in the distance were wrapped in winter haze that day, and I wanted to capture that quiet, reflective mood. There’s a kind of hush in winter that speaks louder than sound. I loved working with the cool blues and muted browns—it brought me right back to that spot, standing at the edge of the field, watching the light shift.
