Beneath the Ridge

That big rounded overhang is old volcanic rock, worn smooth over time, probably rhyolite or welded tuff. The water's pushing’ out from a spring-fed stream that runs underground through the canyon walls, then bursts out here like it’s got someplace to be. You can see how the flow’s carved out the softer layers below, leaving that arch above hanging like a heavy brow.
