Edge of Light

The last light of the day brushed gently across the reeds and slipped onto the water, almost like it was trying not to wake it. I was drawn to the way the shadows and shine met right at the edge—just for a moment. That’s what fall feels like here: everything leaning toward stillness, but not quite done shining.
