Evening Light on Cedar Street

I took this just before supper, out walking’ like I do most days when the sky starts changing’. It’d been a cold one, but quiet. The kind of quiet you can feel in your chest.

The sun was just about gone, but it left the sky all lit up — pinks, purples, a bit of orange hanging’ low like the last coals in a fire. The bare trees looked like lace against it all, and the road was empty, just how I like it.

Nothing fancy here. Just a small street, the same one I’ve walked a hundred times, lookin’ a little more like a painting tonight. Sometimes the sky surprises you like that.
